Extended Essay Workshop with DP 1 Students

On 8th, 15th and 29th of November 2024, all DP1 students were attending the Extended Essay workshop in the library. The workshop was conducted by the school librarian, Ms. Amiera.

In this workshop, students learnt about the important about Academic Integrity as an IB Diploma students. Students were also learnt how to find related information for their EE topic with the use of information seeking strategies and became an information detective to evaluate the information before they use it for the academic writing.

Lastly, students learnt how to use in-text citation in the body of the content. They also learnt the differences between narrative and parentheses in-text citation. Also, they learnt the important of bibliography citation for references.

We wish our DP 1 students will choose the suitable topic for their Extended Essay and apply all the information literacy skills in finding best information for the topic.

MLA Citation IB DP Workshop (DP2)

On 23rd October 2024, all IB DP 2 students are having discussion session with the school librarian, Ms. Amiera on how to write in-text and bibliography citation according to MLA Citation Ed. 9 Handbook.

This workshop enable the students to ask questions regarding MLA citation and other related question about the EE writing.

IB School Librarian acts as a guider to the IB DP students on how they can prepare a complete list of reference follows from the IB requirement.

In this workshop also, Mr. Chow Chung How, the DP Coordinator and Ms. Kumutha, on of the IB DP teacher also explain to students the tips on how to provide a better reference materials for the EE.

Literacy Class: Digital Library Resources

 

Dear all,

In order to provide more accessible library materials to students and teachers, the library will conduct a literacy class to share all online materials provided by the National Library of Malaysia.

In this literacy class, students and teachers will learn how to access for ebooks, audio books, movie, read along books and online magazines.

All these materials are free however, students and teachers need to register as a member to use these online services.

Google’s Doodle 11 March 2021

Today, 10 March 2021, google’s Doodle celebrates the 142nd birthday of Chinese-Malaysian epidemiologist. He was born in Penang into an immigrant family from China. Dr. Wu Lien-Teh received his primary and secondary education at Penang Free School.

During a plague pandemic broke out in China,  he invented a new design of surgical mask to prevent a contagious pneumonic plague that spread from human to human through respiratory transmission. By using the mask, the pandemic was successfully controlled and number of infections declined within four months.
